
Tyler Hutchings
Biography
Tyler Hutchings is an accomplished multifaceted dancer who graduated from Elite Danceworx and trained in Ballet, Jazz, Contemporary, Tap, and Hip Hop. At Elite Danceworx, Tyler was given the opportunity to learn from North America’s top choreographers Jason Parsons, Sonya Tayeh and Stacey Tookey.
Tyler developed his choreographic skills initially by creating routines at McMaster University where he was the Head Captain for the competitive team. He has won multiple choreography awards and first-overall placings for his pieces at Ontario University competitions. He has since graduated with a Bachelor of Science in Kinesiology and a Minor in Psychology.
Tyler has also had the opportunity to work in a principal actor/dancer role as the character Robby G in the Netflix film “Work It” (2020). Most recently, Tyler successfully created his own independent full-length contemporary dance production titled “WHOLE NEW WORLD” (2023) that performed in Toronto for three nights at the Winchester Street Theatre. Tyler has also recently produced a showcase titled "SOLAR FUSION" alongside Taylor Collis that featured a variety of emerging choreographers from across the GTA at the Isabel Bader Theatre in Toronto.
Tyler has also worked as a dancer on the Disney film "Sneakerella" (2022) and an actor in the Netflix short film "Forgive Us Our Trespasses" (2022). Tyler used his experience in the film industry to create and release two dance films. "DETOUR" (2020) stars and features choreography by Tyler with direction by Nick Maiorano. Tyler was more hands-on with his follow-up project titled "PERPLEX" (2022) where he worked alongside Nick Maiorano as the director and also took on the role of the editor.
Tyler continues to freelance as a Dance Teacher dedicating himself to sharing his passion for dance nationwide. With a dynamic teaching style and a deep love for the art form, he inspires students of all ages to explore their creativity through movement. In addition, Tyler's vast knowledge of the arts continues to serve as an outlet for any creative endeavour he takes on.
