Biography

Hailing from Pickering, Ontario, Shanice Nembhard is an acclaimed dancer, educator, and

award-winning choreographer whose career has made an extraordinary impact across North

America and beyond. A former competitive dancer, Shanice’s artistry was recognized early on

with prestigious accolades, including the American Dance Awards Choreography Award.

Graduating valedictorian of Toronto Metropolitan University’s esteemed Performance Dance

Program, she holds a Bachelor of Fine Arts and has trained under some of Canada’s most

celebrated choreographers, including Gadfly and Louis Laberge-Côté, Vicki St.Denis, Tanya

Evidente, and Nadia Potts. During this time, Shanice refined a versatile skill set spanning

contemporary, jazz, ballet, hip-hop, modern, and tap, laying the foundation for an illustrious

professional journey.

Her performance career includes five dynamic seasons as a Toronto Raptors NBA dancer,

highlighted by unforgettable moments like performing in Japan for the NBA Global Games,

being a part of the Raptors' historic Championship season, and proudly serving as a Raptors

Dance Alumni.

An in-demand performer, Shanice has graced the stage and screen alongside global music

icons such as Drake, Tory Lanez, Flo Rida, A$AP Ferg, GOVI, Nonso Amadi, Baka Not

Nice, and Kardinal Offishall. Her television and film credits include projects for Disney,

Nickelodeon, Netflix, Lifetime, and Hulu, with standout appearances in productions like

Disney’s Sneakerella, Netflix’s Self-Made featuring Octavia Spencer, Lifetime’s Salt-N-Pepa,

Nickelodeon’s The J-Team starring JoJo Siwa, and Hulu’s What We Do in the Shadows.

Throughout her career, Shanice has had the honor of working alongside industry legends,

including the late Stephen "tWitch" Boss, Brian Friedman, Laurie-ann Gibson, Ebony Williams,

Emilio Dosal, and Heather Laura Gray — experiences that have shaped her dynamic,

innovative approach to both choreography and teaching.

In addition to her onstage and onscreen achievements, Shanice Nembhard is proudly

represented by DaCosta Talent and is a professional member of ACTRA, underscoring her

commitment to excellence and artistry within the performing arts industry.

An accomplished competitor, she proudly represented Team Canada’s Tap Team at the World

Championships in Riesa, Germany, and danced in the internationally broadcast Opening

Ceremonies of the Pan-Am Games held in Toronto.

Today, Shanice is a highly sought-after educator, adjudicator, and choreographer, consistently

earning numerous choreography awards and titles for her captivating, forward-thinking pieces

across studios nationwide. Committed to continuous growth and artistic evolution, she brings arich, multi-genre expertise that inspires dancers to push beyond technical mastery toward

authentic and empowered expression.
