Biography
Brooke Gilmour is a freelance choreographer and teacher based out of Ontario, Canada. She began her dancing career at the early age of 3 and has been dedicating much of her time and commitment to the art form ever since. Brooke is trained in Ballet, Pointe, Jazz, Acro, Modern, Contemporary, Hip Hop, and Musical Theatre. She also has extensive training and exam work in Cecchetti Ballet.
After graduating high school, Brooke attended the Conteur Dance Academy, under artistic direction of Eryn Waltman, where she studied under many professional teachers and sought out choreographers. She has performed in a few full-length shows such as “Frames” (Conteur Academy), “A life Within” (Breath In Movement) as well as smaller show castings in the Toronto area. In this time, she was also featured in a Craig Cardiff music video.
She then attended the University of Western, where she graduated with an Honours Health Science and a Specialization in Biology Degree. She was a prominent dancer/ choreographer of Heat Dance Team, competing at a varsity level. She has also had the pleasure of choreographing for Caisa Fashion Show, the largest student run fashion show in all of Canada.
After obtaining her degree she transitioned to full time choreography and performing. Brooke has produced two full-length contemporary dance productions entitled “Come On, Dreamer” and “I Never Promised You a Rose Garden”. Her most recent film/TV work includes dancing in the movie “Disney Zombies 2.” She is currently working on a self-created film series titled “The Concept Files” focusing on video media and content creation. Brooke has also been selected as a choreographer to showcase a piece in Solar Fusion- a community dance showcase set to premiere summer 2024.
Brooke has become an established award-winning choreographer. She has been recognized for her unique and innovative work. Brooke spends much of her time freelance teaching/ choreographing for dancers all over Canada and the USA. Brooke’s passion for dance is evident, whether she is teaching or performing, and she can’t wait to inspire the next generation of dancers!
